Are You Struggling To Learn Fast? Part 2
In my previous post, I actually had a grouse about the quality of delivery of these material. It’s not that they are bad, seriously. It’s that they are horrible. I’d like you to really think about the thing that is closest to my heart - reading and researching. If, for instance, you want to do it well, why do most people NOT want to learn the ground basics of accelerated learning, the traditional way? Because it is extremely boring! You’re sitting down, listening to music and words repeated over and over.
I feel that reading and researching needs an internal and an external element. To process a book, you need at least THREE. Yup - I’m not kidding. If you have the belief that you have to read slowly to gain information, then I’d say you’ve just lost your marbles. I speed through information over and over. Here’s why:
#1 - Reading slow promotes distraction and daydreaming.
If you are a slow reader, you are on a highway of cars running at 120 km/h while you are traveling at 1 km/h. Trust me, it will feel far worse for you, and the chances of you getting an accident are much higher.
#2 - Readling slowly prevents you from getting the big picture.
If you don’t know how to derive the big picture, how can you possibly put the pieces of the jigsaw together? Here’s the thing - if you are planning for super reading skills in aid of your research, you definitely need to extend your reading capabilities. Not just by one or two books, but by ten or twenty.
#3 - Reading slowly prevents you from developing a higher level of cross-processing.
Cross-processing is what I coined, and it really refers to the way you learn one thing from another thing. Learn about reading by learning about jogging for instance. Processes act as metaphors for each other.
Pre-requisites
The most important pre-requisite is language. If you are unable to understand language very well, or have a limited vocabulary, then you will have to pull up your understanding of vocabulary via a special process. I call it Glossary Processing. It’s all about your domain of knowledge, and if you want to be in the driver’s seat, then you will start learning in a super-rapid fashion, picking out terms, definitions and processes that are within your learning genre. This has two effects. One, it helps you to develop your language skills over time, especially since you are new to it. Two, it helps you to jumpstart your reading capabilities.
Ultra-Advanced Super-Reading Skills
Because of the very generic nature of this type of skill, it’s not easy to expect people to learn it on their own. So, I’ve yet to come up with some ideas as to helping people to develop this skill other than running a course. The course itself will most likely be around 4-5 sessions in length and get you to extend your learning capabilities, but again, I’m presently too busy with the Internet Money Secrets program to be able to muster enough time to do it.
Keep posted on this blog, though. I’m going to add more interesting incentives for people who are planning to develop powerful learning capabilities in the world of business and entrepreneurship. Of course, students are welcome to attend, but these skills are going to be a bit advanced for application in anything below the ‘A’ level syllabus.
More to come…
