Are You Struggling To Learn Fast?
Well, it’s about time I started to blog about this area also, knowing that most of you here want to learn faster.
In my younger days I used to learn how to memorize things, do mind maps and all the other impressive academic stuff. However, I’ve realized that the bulk of the entire training that I received was useful only to the extent I could practice and get IMMEDIATE results.
One of the biggest problems with all the so-called memory and accelerated learning training programs that are out there is this: they teach you the strategies without giving you the experience behind it. I’ve seen so many BS elements in people’s so-called speed reading or memory courses, and I find it a little appaling that the content has been rehashed over and over and over. I mean, aren’t you sick to the stomach to see the same thing in bookstores or even online? There was actually a guy who sold a 21-minute audio on speed reading for something like $47 - a ridiculous price.
In any case, I believe that the techniques are not as important as the way in which it is delivered. For instance, nobody ever pays attention to the interests of the learner, nobody pays attention to the REAL needs. I mean, you can tell them learners to take responsibility, or to be focused, etc, but they won’t do it. Why?
I have several explanations for this, and those of you who fall in this category - that yes, you’ve read a ton of books, but never really taken action on it. More to come…

It’s about being able to master the learning system for a specific purpose. Too many people forget that. So when you are learning for an examination, you realize you can’t apply the same system to learning in business, a career or a major project because the rules of the game have changed. You no longer need to memorize things to do well in life. You only need to “know”. You don’t need to make notes for the purpose of memeory work. You need to make notes to understand something and to execute a plan.
many more distinctions… so little time…
